Personalisation vs Individualisation
Individualisation and personalisation in education are often perceived as similar concepts, but there are important differences between them.
We strive to combine these approaches, but we place more emphasis on personalisation.
Individualisation
Individualisation is an approach that takes into account the age and characteristics of each student. Teachers adapt teaching materials and methods to help each child.
Goals: All students learn with the same goals, but the ways in which they achieve them may differ.
Teacher's Role: The teacher plays an important role in determining how learning will take place.
Focus: The focus is on students' knowledge and skills.
Personalisation
Personalisation is an approach that makes the pupil an active participant in their own learning. Pupils can choose for themselves what and how they want to learn.
Learning objectives can be different for each pupil, taking into account their interests and desires.
The teacher becomes a mentor who supports and guides the learner but does not control all aspects of learning.
Focus: Personalisation encompasses all aspects of the learner's personality, including emotional and social skills
